shyguy164
So my convertible died on the freeway yesterday and I haven't been able to get it restarted (VIN X). Checked all fuses and relays. Fuel pump runs and is pressurizing the rails. Pulled spark plug wires and watched them spark to the block when I crank the starter. Any ideas? How does one know when the timing belt goes? Any symptoms? Thanks!
ManicMechanic
Usually when it goes, it does just that...Pull the front belt cover (2 8mm bolts, IIRC) and check...

slick
Your a bit far for most of us, but there are a few members out that direction that know a thing or two.
ManicMechanic
If I were single, I'd do it...My sister lives up there, give me a reason to go visit her...Alas, my wife needs me here.

GOT2B GM
Its not THAT bad. You should buy a service manual and give it a try. You might surprise yourself. Just give yourself a full day.
Crazy K
GOOD TIP. once you do all that and have a new belt on. manually turn the engie at the crank, to make sure parts don't intersect! the job is doable but will take some time. rockfangd
usually the first clue to a broken timing belt is hearing the engine turn over faster than normal for no appearant reason, just picture taking off the serpentine belt and the engine would crank really fast lol, best of luck, FIX IT
