Psych0matt
So, i finally checked my serp belt, and everything seems to spin freely. the tensioner makes a bit of noise, but spins for a long long time by itself. when taking off, it feels like something is holding it back, and i thought it was a sticky pulley or something, but that doesn't seem to be the case. what else would cause similar symptoms? it's like it has power but something wants to drag it down a bit. hard to explain, but if you could drive it you'd see what i mean

Psych0matt
yeah, ebrake is fine, i use it whenever i park toward the end of the driveway, and then turn it back off. has been doing this for quite a while though. thats kinda the feeling though. brakes were just done about a year ago too. slick
Have a load test done on your battery and alternator. Have you checked your grounds?
Psych0matt
i want/need to upgrade all my grounds and power wires, cuz i think thats part of my sometimes not starting problem too, but would that cause something like this?
slick
It can. A poor connection will not let all the current to flow correctly. This could lead to premature failure of electronic parts. Generally, though, you will notice it from a poor ground.
Regal_GS_1989
AC compressor running by any chance. I can really feel the difference with mine when its on.
Psych0matt
ac compressor is bad, hasnt worked in over a year. it spun with the belt off, but with the car running strange things could happen i suppose. that has been my suspicion, but i need to replace it anyways
97loudcut
You've checked all the obvious things right...cleaned the MAF, Seafoam, clean the TB, air filter, PCV. When is the last time you did your fuel filter? When I did mine it made a HUGE difference.
Psych0matt
fuel filter was i think two summers ago, was the stock one i think. I've seafoamed last summer (car didnt drive in winter), pcv should be good. I should clean the maf and tb, but not quite sure thatll fix this, although im sure it'll help! 19Cutlass94
The water pump is on the speretine belt. Obivously you dont wanna do it for a long amount of time, but itll show you if one of the acc. is dragging or not.
Psych0matt
yeah, thought about that, but it was warm at the time, and I dont exactly like doing that, but I might have to to see if that's where its coming from
