digitaloutsider
tork FWIW, You should be able to run a 3400 on a 3100 harness/PCM.
slick
Yes, you can run the 3400 on your 3100 stuff. You will need to change over a few things, but otherwise, it will work. Actually, you should be able to run the 3.4 on the 3100 stuff as well. You will have to re-route your harness a bit, and change over a few other things as well. Psych0matt
if you're going for easiest, 3400 would be a lot easier. i guess it also depends on which is easier to get a hold of in the first place
jeremy
like mentioned already the 3400 will be slightly easier, that being said ...the 3.4 DOHC will be more fun to drive
Psych0matt
the 3.4 DOHC will be more fun to drive QFT!
CSI_MuNkY
the 3.4 DOHC will be more fun to drive QFT! But much more difficult to modify Jamie
chadz34
the 3.4 DOHC will be more fun to drive QFT! But much more difficult to modify Jamie It's like any other engine, give it what it needs to perform and it will.......money is always an issue with that engine. hell_raiser
well i can get a 2 door cutty for 200 bucks with a 3.4 dohc
Brian P
like mentioned already the 3400 will be slightly easier, that being said ...the 3.4 DOHC will be more fun to drive Not in its stock form it won't. You're talking about a ~15-20 hp difference. The bigger dilemma would be the need to swap harnesses and PCM's from another '95 DOHC equipped W-body. If you're gonna run the DOHC on the 3100 PCM it'll drive like ass, and at the very least, starve for fuel. The 3400 is easier to run on a 3100 computer. Again it'll not be running to its potential but it's not going to be as far off as the DOHC. In fact, if you install '96-99 3400 injectors, the tune should be pretty close. So it looks more like this: For the DOHC: Swap the motor, mounts, exhaust downpipe, PCM and harness, should also swap the tranny since the overall ratio is slightly different (3.43 vs 3.33) For the 3400: Swap the motor, couple brackets, use early 3400 injectors, run it. hell_raiser
3400 it is lol. will a top end swap do the same as a 3400 swap? engine just started to hesitate(spelling) and knock a bit 186,000 km
Brian P
a top end swap will be an improvement, but won't be as strong as the 3400. What kind of knocking do you hear? When the engine is cold? warm?
hell_raiser
warm it dose it at low rpm some times and at 4000
Brian P
Warm knocking could be a bad sign. You may get lucky and it just is coming from a bad lifter, but worst case scenario it's coming from a worn or spun bearing. Got any audio of it? hell_raiser
well i could try to get some audio. its weird if i baby it shes fine no knock but if i give her passing some one she knocks at 5 rpm and hard acceleration it knocks too, off the line at that.
