95 BLKDOUT Drop Top Posted August 18, 2007 Report Posted August 18, 2007 My next project over the next couple months will be designing an enclosure for four 12's where the backseat of my cutty used to be. the only question i have is will it hit? Im gonna do 4 seperate slot port boxes fireing towards the front of the car (if it will hit) I finished the fiberglass door pannels but im gonna be re-doing them in this project to add more mid ranges. But Im looking for opinions and ideas on ways to put the subs in the backseat in a way that they will pound, top up and down. Quote
Ryan from Ohio Posted August 18, 2007 Report Posted August 18, 2007 You are already at a huge disadvantage in a convertible. You can forget about the 10-12 dB's of cabin gain as it will not resonate off the convertible top. My best advice is to go sealed. Quote
95 BLKDOUT Drop Top Posted August 19, 2007 Author Report Posted August 19, 2007 wont i be missing the low frequencies if i go sealed? or will it even matter anymore? Quote
Ryan from Ohio Posted August 19, 2007 Report Posted August 19, 2007 You are misinformed on box characteristics. http://www.xtant.com/html/techSupport/enclosures.cfm#sealedEnc Have a quick read on sealed vented. Its just been my experience with subs say in the back seat, that when in a ported box they dont sound as loud as sealed. Quote
95 BLKDOUT Drop Top Posted August 20, 2007 Author Report Posted August 20, 2007 sealed it is then... It will make it easier to fit 4 in the back seat in a sealed box also. Quote
