CNBZ34
So I finally got some time to swap out the lousy Multec injectors in my 92 Z with the 97 Rochesters I bought from PWMIN back in June. All I can say is I'm happy as hell as to the way the car runs now. Also I feel pretty stupid. I assumed that because the Multecs has 2 clip slots versus the one on the Rochesters that they wouldn't fit. I was WRONG!!! Took me about an hour and a half and I was firing it up. Much smoother idle, better acceleration and they are quieter. I still experience a slight hesitation off idle when it's cold but much better than it was, but once warmed up.... no hesitation. I have discovered that by playing with the TPS base idle setting I've been able th get rid of almost all the hesitation. With a range of .5 to 1.0 V, I still have room to try different settings to see if I can eliminate it all together. If anyone remembers, I did try a new set of ACCEL injectors some time ago. DON'T waste you time or $$ on those. Wrong spray pattern, made it hard starting and after having them in my car for less than 45 days, I had 4 leakers. When I pulled the rail back out to remove them, I cycled the fuel pump and sure enough, 4 of them were dripping. Quality product I tell ya! So, besides my now partially sagging headliner and still sticking speedometer.... We're back in business!

CNBZ34
PWMIN.... Thanks for selling them to me! Really made my car run nice. Andrew.... I just cannot bring myself to get rif of it. May happen eventually due to the miles I slam on it. Even alternating it with my truck, I average 500 miles a week. i sure do enjoy driving it. I'm really bummed my head liner started to fall. Goes with the territory I suppose. I get compliments on it every time I stop at Costco for gas.... which is twice a week.
Andrew
i remember the days of a sagging headliner. FYI spray glue only works for a week or two, LOL.
GP1138
What years were vulnerable to injector trouble?
toms92gpse
What years were vulnerable to injector trouble? I know the 91 and early 92s are. My car was manufactured In Nov. 91, I haven't had any issues with mine yet.

CNBZ34
Mine is a 1992, I had the "phantom stalling" issue. One thing I noticed was a much smoother and better acceleration when crusing and needing to pick it up a bit. I think part of my problem is that it has a 1997 crate engine with 1992 induction. The 1997 injectors really were a nice improvement. This is also after having tried junk accels, having my multecs run thru the As-Nu machine at $35 an injector. They had good patterns and volume, but these injectors just flat out make the car run better. There was a TSB issued on the stalling problem and the fix was to replace the injectors with a different style. Perhaps your cars had the work done at some point in time. GP1138
Question: my car is timed improperly, so that might be the reason, but I have to rev it off startup or it will stall on me. Sound like it could possibly be the injector problem?
CNBZ34
I doubt it. I would correct the timing issue then if it continues, then continue to diagnose. How is it once warmed up? i would also look at your base TPS setting and also check it's function. I'd also look at your IAC as well. Ensure no vacuum leaks exsist. Check engine light? Codes? My car would fire up good, idle fine except when coming to a stop to say... back into a parking spot. It would just stall. But fire right back up. pwmin
PWMIN.... Thanks for selling them to me! Really made my car run nice. no problem im having a random misfire/stumbling and am having a similar problem. i set my timing at 0/-13 and im thinking that may be the problem, too (weird timing like yours). im going to have to put 94-97 cams in anyway so i can do an obd2 swap for tuning and im going to put L67 injectors in probably. and im going to make it 0/-10 instead. hopefully thatll help, but then i wont know which one solved my problem
GP1138
im having a random misfire/stumbling and am having a similar problem. i set my timing at 0/-13 and im thinking that may be the problem, too (weird timing like yours). That was what I was told my motor was timed to. I'm not sure of the specifics of how that is accomplished, but I get very little idle and quick stall on first startup. After I drive awhile, I get a decent idle. It seems to have plenty of power, but I'd really just like to get it back to stock timing for drivability rather than performance. pwmin
in short, the way i timed it, i marked on the crank pulley where 13/-13 and 0 was and held the intake cam down and spun the engine to where it was -13 exhaust. anway, 0/-13 is what is recommended for a manual car and +6/-6 for a 91-95 auto. 96-97 cams are supposedly already 0/-4. supposedly, -13 is supposed to still idle decently but if you go over that, its supposed to start getting rough, but it seems a little too rough for me like this and i have to kinda let the clutch out slowly and rev it up more than i think i should have to. i would either go back to stock timing or +6/-6. im probably going to go with 0/-10. 0/-13 is supposed to give you more top end
CNBZ34
Car runs awesome when warmed up but i still cannot get rid of the hesitation when cold. Very frustrating now!
