GtipGary
Im pretty sure ive had a couple of people tell me that i cant do anything about how raspy my exhaust is... but i figured id ask anyway. I have a 94 gp with an Lq1, hi flow cat, and straight through glass packs. Is there anything what so ever, short of changing the motor, to make my exhaust less raspy?? GOT2B GM
add an 18" resonator
rockfangd
x2 worked for me, and my dual exhaust
runt
Resonators, maybe mufflers.
White93z34
real mufflers are always a good start, i have some aftermarket mufflers, and a bigass resonator, completely eliminated the 60*v6 "tick"
Z34-5speed
I have dual Magnaflows with no cat and one 18inch glasspack, and one 10inch glasspack, and i have absolutely no rasp. Kyle
Andrew
put one of your glasspacks behind your cat to act as a resonator (maybe both if they are short) then buy two real mufflers of your choice. btw it is the 3800's that are impossible to not sound raspy with an aftermarket exhaust. the LQ1 sounds great when done up right. CSI_MuNkY
I have a 12" resonator right now, (Matt's (93luminaz34) old exhaust) and I have a bit of a rasp around 2500 RPM. My friends dad runs an exhaust shop and he said he would start by using a longer resonator. So when I have the time and money, I will give that a shot. So thats where I would start if I were you. GtipGary
No... I think you guys misunderstood me... could be because im a dumb ass!! I was referring to my mufflers as glass packs... they are aftermarket. It has a nice tone and everything but when i hit the gas its raspy as hell. I had my cat gutted for a while but emissions came around so i just threw the high flow on there. Also timmy/schocktherapy has a cherry bomb resontor layin around would that work
pwmin
imo, the 3.4 needs mufflers and a glasspack, not 3 glasspacks. ive heard one w/ 3 glasspacks and it wasnt raspy at all, just loud as fuck.
bigdman
on my 3.4 I have 28 inch thrush glass pack were the cat was. 2.5 inch mandrel bent pipe. a 20 in. glasspack where the resonator was. and no mufflers. its not raspy at all. makes the 3.4 sound great. but loud as hell. chadz34
I have dual Magnaflows with no cat and one 18inch glasspack, and one 10inch glasspack, and i have absolutely no rasp. Kyle You can still hear it in your exhaust clips. And thats a free rev not even in gear.

PCGUY112887
Anyone know where to get a real long resonator? I would rather use a glasspack for a resonator, but I hate how much they restrict flow... rather have a real resonator that is longer than 12"... pwmin
you can get a super-long magnaflow. i used one that was 28" long on my riviera (6" diameter). why not put a glasspack in backwards? the air wont get caught in the cups, itll just go over them. PCGUY112887
I was afraid to use one since the diamater of the glasspack gets so small compared to the diamater of the pipe... What I could do is since I have 2.5" pipe, get a 3" resonator and put adapters on it?
pwmin
i believe the dynomax glasspack i used in the 96 was 2.5" ID through the material. plus, it was reversible (no cups), but a little expensive and pretty short, but i think you can get longer ones.
