Door Locks: You learn something new everyday!

Just thought I'd share the fact that I solved a little issue that I was having with my power locks...

I didn't put two-and-two together until today, but after I unplugged my keyless entry reciever for what I thought would be forever (I gave up with trying them one after another...maybe I'll go about repairing one someday...buts thats another story) my drivers door would not lock electricaly, only the pass. side would. I got used to just manualy locking it...until today when I plugged another receiver, and the locks started working again!

So go figure...with out that little black box, the drivers power door lock does not work.

thats freakin wierd. Mines doing the same thing but I doubt for the same reason. Even the sides are the same. Although... my keyless entry doesn't work and it hasn't for 16yrs.

Yeah, I discovered this 13yrs ago when I took my RKE receiver out, it's old news. (holy crap I've had this car a long time)

The driver door lock is controlled separately from the rest in order for the progressive unlocking feature to work (press once for driver only, press 2nd time for pass doors).

There is a really simple way to make the driver side work without the receiver installed, but it involves splicing 2 wires together. I don't have the details off hand though, I'd have to check my notes.
