Crazy K Posted August 8, 2007 Report Posted August 8, 2007 Yeah, I have that tool. It makes it sooooooooo easy to pop out even the most stubborn ball joints. I haven't had to do a W-body ball joint for years, but I did use the tool on my truck even though it's not exactly the right shape for it. It's sure a helluva lot easier than putting muscle into a pickle fork, mainly because I don't have any. Gnat... You are my favorite 98 pound weakling!!!! I'll watch for one on e-bay. Quote
GnatGoSplat Posted August 8, 2007 Report Posted August 8, 2007 Gnat... You are my favorite 98 pound weakling!!!! That would be a better excuse than the truth, which is I'm a 200+ lb fat guy with a desk job who gets very little exercise. Quote
cutty Posted August 9, 2007 Author Report Posted August 9, 2007 i might watch ebay for one too. Quote
cutty Posted August 9, 2007 Author Report Posted August 9, 2007 would this by any chance be the tool?? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/KENT-MOORE-J42188-BALL-JOINT-SEPARATOR_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ40022QQihZ002QQitemZ120148225297QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW Quote
slick Posted August 9, 2007 Report Posted August 9, 2007 Yes, that is the one. A person could actually modify a c-clamp, if they really wanted to, to make this tool themself. Quote

ManicMechanic Posted August 9, 2007 Report Posted August 9, 2007 You make it sound so dirty. Okay, I'm done being an idiot. lol Quote
GnatGoSplat Posted August 9, 2007 Report Posted August 9, 2007 Here's the one I have, it's the one specifically made for W-bodies. The one on eBay might work, but I'd be concerned about that bolt being in the way. The W-body specific tool has the bolt on the bottom so there are no clearance issues. Quote
5speedz34 Posted August 10, 2007 Report Posted August 10, 2007 FWIW: I've searched ebay for almost 2 years for that tool. I've seen it twice. The last time was 2 months and I missed the auction! Quote
pwmin Posted August 10, 2007 Report Posted August 10, 2007 never used one of those tools. pickle fork and hammer always worked for me although it did tear the rubber boot, but it was coming off anyway. usually just takes a hammer. ahh, the beauty of "rust-free" climates Quote
cutty Posted August 11, 2007 Author Report Posted August 11, 2007 I so wish my car was rust free, it has cancer allover the body and undercarriage now Quote
