timestalker45
im coming to a conclusion that i have a bad ground. my dash board and running has been rough a little, such as if i turn on my turn signal my rpms go up and down. so can anyone give me some good starting points to check for this bad ground such as common areas? GP1138
Volts jumping up and down with the turn signal could also be a sign of a bad alternator.
timestalker45
it is a 92 cutlass supreme s my volt meter has been fine reading acrite voltage, plus i did test the altinator. as i said the rmp goe up and down when the turnsignal is on, my speedometer drops to 0 when stopping without being stoped, my temp gauge will go up and down even though i replaced the sensor, and finally but not least after removing the negative wire a while back the e-brake light remians on all the time(i disconected the e-brake, and replaced sensor) i also found out betweeen the ground wire and the power wire to the sensor i have continuity when i shouldnt. so i ahve come to the simple and hopefully right conclusion that it is a bad ground, unless some one has a better conclusion note: i changed radio for a custom cd-player while doing so i had to wire a wire to the fuse box do to my memorie wire only suplying .2mv, my radio needed 12.(i thought all radios run off 12v i might be wrong but that struck me as odd) note2: i thought it was my cluster, but that couldnt cause all the problems, well i dont think so
Andrew
follow all the cables off your negative battery terminal. make sure the cable ends and mating surfaces are clean and without corrosion.

ns87
When I cleaned up two grounds (one on each corner of the engine bay behind the headlights) that helped your problem a lot!

SigEpCutlass
Here's a shot in the dark. The Auxiliary post is connected to the battery cables, and it has it's own ground (can't remember what to at the moment). The Aux post has a tendency to go bad or get corroded. I'd check the post, and most especially it's ground. That may be your bad ground. It's easy to check, and shouldn't cost much to replace it if necessary. Btw, are you sure your battery cables aren't corroded?
