19Cutlass94
you can use the 282, 284. The bellhousings are the same between the 4T60, 4T60-E, 282, 284. Yes you can and its no different than any other 5sped swap............ theres members that have done this as well.................

acq
ok so just to make sure cuz a couple ppl ive talked to around here have told me that the series 1 3800 will not bolt up to a 282 or
ManicMechanic
Yes it will. You just have to use a machined Camaro/Firebird 3.8/5 spd flywheel because FWD 3.8s never came with a manual trans.
acq
ok thanks
pwmin
282s are much easier to find and are rebuildable. i would just try to find one of those and if youre planning on doing anything to give the engine good power, i would have it built right the first time and possible change the gears. acq
ok so all i wouls need to do i find the 282 rebuild it and machine a camaro/firebird 3.8 fly wheel? and then every thing should fit into place?
pwmin
what exactly is the car this would be going in to?
acq
o sorry a 93 regal gs
pwmin
not sure if anyone has done the swap on a regal or how your center console is set up. youre going to need some way to make the console look decent w/ a manual shifter in there. theres a very recent post on a 5-speed swap into a lumina. it will be even harder for you since regals never came w/ a manual. acq
yeah but i want a 5 speed pretty bad or a ratchet shifter but a 5 speed more ill see what i can do
ManicMechanic
Probably wouldn't be hard at all to cut the shifter bezel and use a Cutlass boot. Or even possibly use a Cutlass console.
acq
yeah thats what i was guna try now i just need to find a cutlass with a 282 in it and a fly wheel
pwmin
it shouldnt be too hard, just different, which is awesome. a ratchet shifter would look out of place in a fwd v6 car. i think you should try to incorporate a hard brake while youre at it
