For those curious, and a few of you who have emailed me, I thought I would post this.

This was not that hard to do....

What you need is the older model Trofeo or equal type cd unit..It should look like this:

NOT THIS!!!!!!

The Delco Loc II's are all the same from what I could tell, just with different faceplates depending on the car. Camaro gets one kinda faceplate , and Blazer gets another, but by far the coolest looking Delco Loc II , is the one out of the Cutlass supreme's.

These stereo's are really 3 seperate units. The faceplate , the radio tuner , and the CD player, and they are screwed together into one box.

Start with the tuner.Three screws hold the tuner in place, one on each side, then 1 in the back. When you pull off the top half of this thing (the tuner) you will realize how simple it really is.

Next is the face plate, it should snap on. disconnect a few wires/connectors there, then set it aside. Now after you have taken the cover of the Slave unit apart, and are looking at the unit itself, and your looking at your stereo, looking at the cd unit, you will see they are the same. Just swap em out , put the whole thing back together, and play your CD's. I spent $50.00 on the Slave unit at the junk yard , and I made sure to ask them, what do I do if the unit doesn't work. They told me I could bring it back, and that the unit had a 30 return.

In case I have missed anything, here is a much better write up (than mine) on how to tear down the unit and put in a new player. But instead of sending your unit away, and waiting for it to come back, just substitute the slave cd unit, and you will be set. Here's that link, and I thank in a very big way, they guy who wrote it, it's very informitive!:
