simple transmission question

when i drive i drive with my left hand on the steering wheel n my right hand on the shifter i kinda lean on it n someone told me i shouldnt do that they said that is what makes the transmission slipp when u lean on it like that

ok well whoever told u that isnt too bright. i bet that person who told u this leans on theirs, but they lean on it so damn hard (tryin to drive like a ricer) that it just bareley nudges into neutral, then they are like "oh shit" panic for a sec and change their sitting positin and it nudges back into D :roll:

Yeah, that's partly correct because when you're in Overdrive [if that's where you put the stick when driving] and putting some pressure behind it, the next gear selection is Neutral.

its more for manual trans cars, putting pressure against the shifter moving the gears around a little could be causing them to wear against themselves, the case, or a linkage.

my g/f mother told me that but ya i drive like that i but i hardly put pressure on it if nethin im pushin it down towards the gornw not shiftin down or up

 

so it doesnt matter???

Whoever told you that is a fucking idiot. Your tranny won't slip unless there's something mechanically wrong with it.
