Won't stop leaking.....any suggestions

So I replaced the lift cylinder on my cutty last week, tested a couple times before i put everything together, and it worked great no leaks. But installing some new sound yesterday and noticed that now, leaking around the the plactice hose connection where it screws into the cylinder. The cylinder is fine, just the connection from the plactic hose. I went to hardware, cause it looks like it usues the same things as if you were installing a hose for an ice maker to a frig........made a new connection and this time, too much pressure from the pump i guess and the hose blew off the fitting. Any suggestions, it has a plastic hose, a brass retainer and a brass insert that goes into the hose, i thought about using the plastic retainer, but i thought i'd get a couple of you guys to chime in first..........thanks!
