Help! GP dash deconstruction...

So I've got my dash half taken apart, looking for a stupid little steel shim that I left INSIDE the dash a few weeks ago. The thing is about the same size as a nail file, and has worked it's way into somewhere infront of the driver near the windsheild, and is making a racket that I can't stand.

So I got myself a little over my head and decided to start taking the dash appart in hunt for the damn thing. I've got the top off, the kick panel underneath removed, and the black plasic main "superstructure" or whatever unbolted along the base of the windsheild, and each bolt down on the bottom corners. The whole thing is lose, but it's still not released.

I also unbolted the bracket that holds the steering column up, but there is obviously more to it than that. Does anyone know where else to look/undo bolts?

I'd like to get this damn thing put back together by the end of the night. This was my day off....so í hope to have the car back in one piece by tomorrow (with that damn steel thing OUT of the dash).

Thanks for ANY tips.....I'm sort of desperate at this point!

Well, I put it all back together. I tried squirting some expanding foam into the cavity I thought the little piece had gotten too, as a last resort. I don't think that helped much, but it's the sort of noise that comes and goes (and maybe only I notice it) so whatever...time to move on!

Feels good to have everthing back together, nice and tight again, for whatever thats worth.

Yeah, I bought one of those and tried it, but got nothin'.

It's a great little tool though...I've only had it a couple of days and keep finding uses for it!
