birdman
ive been having this issue for a while now but havent really messed with it since i got my other car. Anyways i was at a friends and the car had been up to temp, i shut it off and went inside for mabey 3-4 min. when i go back out to leave it wont start, it fired 2-3 times then nothing. on a hunch from previous experiences i popped the hood and unplugged the map sensor and it fired right up. i gave it a few healthy revs, shut it off, pluged the sensor back in, started it and i was on my way. The map sensor cant be more than 6mo old and even before i replaced it still started hard, its just until now that i know i can unplug the map sensor to get it to start. before id just wait for a few hours and try again (annoying). any ideas what it could be? thanks. timestalker45
does ur check engine light come on or anything? u said it sputters then stalls correct? when u go to restart it does it even try to fire or just cranks? also u checked ur air filter, a dirty throttle boddy clogged fule filter bad spark plugs and whires or the caps, also it could be the ecm, did u check the wires to the map sensor? the harness could be bad and when the wires heat up it gets high resistence

birdman
the car has all new sensors excpt the crank, all new filters, new wires, and it donst sputter and die, when i try to start it i either hold the gas very slightly and it kinda works its way up until i get a good rev out of it or it will fire a few times and then it acts like its flooded and wont fire at all. that and the car alawys smells like its running rich at an idle unless the map sensor is unplugged, then it smells normal. timestalker45
sound like the prom or a leaky injector i eamn if u have to gradualy push gas to get it going then sounds like an injector problem exspecialy with flooding, but the thing thats throwing me is u disconect the map sensor and it doesnt run rich the trigger me to beleave it computer related like a bad o2 sensor or the fuel control for the sfi it a regulator system the map sensor regulate the air intake and thats supost to regulate emount of fuel intake unless u have a vacuum leak and that would throw every thing off i mean then with no reading from the map sensor the car can rely only on the o2 and can guess on what the proper mixsture needs to be u check for vacuum leaks try that to much air being read cuases to much gas in put sorry i like to give ll my thoughts but try vacuum leak first then check other

chadz34
ive gone over it a few times for vac leaks but im going to do it again, and it has new o2 sensor and a different set of the 95+ injectors. I have heard the crank sensor could be going out, it can do some wacky shit before it goes out. I havent replaced that yet.
