L67LuminaEuro
Hey all heres my story. I have a '93 Lumina Euro Sedan that acquired 150K before i got it. It is in great shape but needs stiffening up so i will change the struts to KYB's. I have a 68 Impala which has KYB's and i love them. So are KYB good for W cars like i have heard? I'm changing the strut mounts, front cartridges, dust boots, rear struts and mounts. How much would a job like this cost in parts. I'm doing the work. mdelorie
A lot of members here have KYBs all around, including myself. They're a decent shock, definitely an upgrade from stock. There used to be adjustable Koni's available, but I believe they're long discontinued.
Andrew
the KYB GR2's are the best all around shock you can get for a 93 IMO. also, http://www.w-body.com/forum/index.php/topic,61646.0.html
LuminaPower92
How are Monroe Sensa Trak's compared to KYB's? I have a 92 Euro I am going to order new struts soon.
Grand Moff Joseph
I own neither, but from what has been said on this forum, the Sandatrac's will give >80% of the performance of the KYBs for any application (except Auto Cross), but with a moderately more compliant ride. I'd say that is correct. The Sensa Traks I put in my car ~40,000 miles ago have been pretty much that. They're definitely smoother than KYB's, and they can take some abuse. I'm going to be due for new struts pretty soon, and I'll probably put Monroe's on the cutty again.
1990lumina
I liked the Monroe struts I put in my Lumina last summer too, they had a very nice ride to them, and it probably would have been nicer to have replaced or done something with the monoleaf at the same time since mine is sagging - those monoleaf pucks helped but the spring is in bad shape lol
19Cutlass94
FYI I went through 5 sensatrac's in less than 2 months cause they all kept leaking fluid, and going bad. They are shit IMO. And when I had them in my car they were wayy too soft for my liking. Go with KYB GR-2's. You cant go wrong.

You're the first person I know that's had that issue with them. All 4 that I originally put on have been good for more than 40,000 miles now. Hell, one even managed to keep compression after it broke through a rotted rear strut mount.
19Cutlass94
I got them through napa. We sell monroe shocks and struts ( sensatrac's ) as well as our own brand. My cost they were dirt cheap, so I picked em up cause I needed something cheap that would last till i did my suspension work. I would say that maybe I got a bad batch or something but that many is a row is kinda odd.

I may go to Sears and see if they're due for replacement, I believe there's a lifetime warranty on the ones I bought three years ago. AWeb80
I like a sporty suspension...so i rave about my KYB's all the time.... sensatracs are prolly good for the average noob who drives a car just to get from a to b and not have fun in it. slick
I'm going to refute the statements of KYB's being the best for sporty suspension and say if you want all out, you will buy fathead's Koni's that he has for sale. Worlds better than KYB.
19Cutlass94
I was just gonna ask about Koni's. I think Im gonna try them when I need new struts.
slick
Definately, as long as you can find a pair.
