fleetwoodguy79
Well I finally got into tearing into it... I'm down to the front heads, but I am unable to get the head bolts off. They are on EXTREMELY tight! Any suggestions? And also, I got a valve spring compressor from autozone, how do I get the retainer out of the spring when I compress it? Thanks all! phantomFE3
get a big breaker bar to get the head bolts off, or if you are rebuilding are you going to get new head bolts? if so, it would be easy to use a impact wrench, or if you dont have one of those, a couple drips of croil or penetrating oil on them and let it seap into the threadds and then try it
Robby1870
yeah, do what was mentioned above. Since you are rebuilding and rebuilding for performance, you would be well advised to get brand new head bolts, when you put it back together. fleetwoodguy79
Thanks for the tip, I'll try that... but do any of you guys have any idea how to get the valve keepers off?
brian89gp
Compress the valve spring and take a small pair of needle nose pliers to grab onto the valve keepers. There is just barely enough room to get them out.
