You do realize at the high temperatures of the engine bay that the fiberglass WILL get very hard and brittle, and may start to crack on you correct? Fiberglass hoods last because of the cooler outside air rushing over them. Anyways, good luck. You'll save yourself a crapload of money just using PVC. BTW, please don't use the autoparts store fiberglass crap. It's the worst possible stuff you could ever use. Spend the $45 and buy some Evercoat resin and hardener. It will may your life much more enjoyable. Quote

Well, I have some heavy duty 3" drier duct that is gonna be used for now I think. .. I gotta relocate my battery today.. It's just in the damn way of everything.... So y'all dont think I should use fiberglass... K'... I just thought it might get interesting and keep me occipied for a day... Quote

You can make a PVC one for much cheaper than doing a fiberglass one (assuming you buy good product and not the parts store fiberglass crap). And... I bet the fibers would be awesome if they were sucked into the engine! Quote

CSI_MuNkY Posted July 9, 2007 Report Posted July 9, 2007 I think using strictly Fiberglass for the tube is a bad idea, next thing you know its brittle and breaking up, some of that gets into your engine, I don't even want to think of the result. And to be falling back on an "ask no questions" warranty just seems pointless. PVC or ABS pipe is the way to go, you can get a 9' section for around $10, so why bother risking having to use a warrenty claim when you can completely avoid the hassle? Where are you relocating the battery to? A lot of people don't realize that when you relocate the battery to the trunk you have to put a kill switch on the rear of the car. That is of course if your racing, although I'm willing to bet some states/provinces would have it in their highway traffic acts as well. Jamie Quote
