vtirocz
I bought a R134A retrofit kit from Walmart for my '90 Lumina Euro and the low side pressure fitting does not seem to fit correctly. I damaged it the first time putting it on and then tried the same fitting (this time from NAPA) and that did not fit correctly either. The threads are correct, but the shrader valve (of the OEM fitting) gets pushed in too far and seems to be bottoming out. Has anyone else ran into this problem? I'm wondering if the OEM Low side fitting is damaged. Thanks.
vtirocz
Does the schrader valve of the R12 fitting need to be removed before you put the R134a "conversion kit" fitting over it?? I didn't remove the R12 schader valve stem. Thanks.
rockfangd
i am pretty sure you have to remove it as the retrofit has the valve on it already. makes sense
RJansen658
Yes that is correct, you have to remove the schrader from the low side. Don't even put on the high side adapter unless you have to.
