Darkness
Ok, so my starter has been giving me problems, mostly spinning freely, now and then catching and starting. I got a new starter and slid under the car thinking that this is going to be an easy swap, when I look at all the lines and whatnot in the way. The cradle is right under the starter and there are a/c lines between it and the radiator. So, how do I get it out? Can I take off the oil filter and slide it out that way, or is this one of those things where the engine has to be lifted so I can even get to the bolts? If anyone has some handy tips, I'd appreciate them. Thanks.
Crazy K
remove oil filter for clearance. pull the starter that direction and it should drop right out. tip: disconnect battery to avoid a shocking experience!
Darkness
Ok, thanks, I was hoping that would do it. And yes, I tried taking a starter off of a 78 trans am without disconnecting the battery first. It was quite an experience.
