synistershadows Posted June 26, 2007 Report Posted June 26, 2007 anyone know about how much a T-Stat for a 3.4L is?? and where it is located and how hard it would be to replace?? Quote
DOHCRagtopguy Posted June 26, 2007 Report Posted June 26, 2007 Cost: No more than 10 bucks. Location: Follow your upper radiator hose to the intake manifold. PIA Factor: Not too bad, about a 6 on a scale of 1-10. Quote
Euro Posted June 26, 2007 Report Posted June 26, 2007 do they make colder T-stats for the 3.4? Doesn't Ben make them? Quote
slick Posted June 26, 2007 Report Posted June 26, 2007 Yes, they are available in colder temps. T-stats aren't made per application, but per size to fit the housing. As far as doing it is concerned, I personally would give it a 1 out of 10, because it's simple to do. Be sure to bleed afterwards. Quote
jeremy Posted June 26, 2007 Report Posted June 26, 2007 I have to agree with chris....1/10 in difficulty.. Quote
IRONDOG442 Posted June 26, 2007 Report Posted June 26, 2007 I say two out of ten just to be different Quote
DOHCRagtopguy Posted June 27, 2007 Report Posted June 27, 2007 Only reason I gave it a 6 is because of the ears on the one part that goes to the coolant line. That can be a pain in the butt. Other than that it is easy. But you don't know what kind of mechanical prowess this guy has, he could be a rookie wrench spinner. Quote
IRONDOG442 Posted June 27, 2007 Report Posted June 27, 2007 Rookie wrench spinner-Just like me !!! Quote
chadz34 Posted June 27, 2007 Report Posted June 27, 2007 Cost: No more than 10 bucks. Location: Follow your upper radiator hose to the intake manifold. PIA Factor: Not too bad, about a 6 on a scale of 1-10. If I can do it, anyone can haha I'd rate it a 4 or 5 though. I got a 180 stat as opposed to 195. DOn't go too cold or you won't get a closed loop idle and you will be hard on the engine parts. Quote
