synistershadows
ok well i can still drive my car but its more or less just a huge pain in the a** anyways my throttle stays closed like its stuck or something and i have to mash down on the gas pedel before it un sticks itself! even when the engines warm and i come to a light it still stays stuck closed. i tryed sparying brake cleaner onto a rag and wipping around the butterfly valve in the throttle when open and it just came out black. i also tryed spraying carb and choke cleaner into the same place and it turned into a black pool of liquid that i wipped up. but it still sticks closed. my buddy tighted the little screw by the trottle cable when my engine was idleing high it kinda worked but ever since then its been stuck. i tryed losening it but that didnt work? any help im lost for ideas
slick
You should never mess with that screw. Are you sure your throttle cables are fubared?
synistershadows
well i know that but he didnt and my cables look fine and as soon as i actuly get the throttle open its fine to move its just when i take my foot off the gas that it gets sticky
slick
Try spraying some Silicon Lubricant on the throttle linkages, see if it helps any.
z34Phoenix
100% it is that screw he adjusted... it is a stop so the blade doesnt rest aganst the TB bore. when the blade does this it wedges itself into the soft Al. and sticks. i would retighten the screw until the blade just starts to not close all the way and then loosen like 1/4 to 1/2 turn. then i would take the time to completely clean all that carbon build up out. clean it until you see the silver of the Aluminum. when done for good mesure i would spray silicone or lithium greese around the linkage and around the pivot for the blade. that should fix all your probs.... if you still have a high idle i would look into cleaning the IAC valve, check vac lines, or other gaskets. but that screw is just a stop the computer controls the idle with a valve (IAC)
synistershadows
i fixed the idle a while ago turns out it was the intake gasket but the pedel still sticks so i think ill try what you suggested
Daggar
Like was said above it's the screw. I have had the same issue before and re-ajusting the screw to the point where the pedal don't stick solved it.
