Anyone install a Double Din?

Recommended Posts

I am about to install a Double Din in the space for the stock radio in my GTP. I know when I did it years ago with a Double Din in a Cavalier it was a real PITA.

Just wondering if anyone has installed one in thier Wbody?

Did the GTPs have a double din head unit factory?? Or is this gonna involve some cutting of the dash to make it fit??

I believe they are 1.5.

1st Gen GP's are 1.5- You can get it to fit, but it's gonna take a bit of work.

The latter year Cutlass's were Double Din, no big deal sticking a double din HU into those.

ok so my GTP is a 1.5 and from the looks of it, it sure is. Now to find a cage for it. I guess I will be calling some of the stereo shops today.

I am installing an Alpine Flip and Alpine DVD/CD combi. That takes a total of double din.

I pick up the gear tonight. Wish me luck..

Thanks BTW for the info.

Is it a double din deck or 2 units combined? cuz you could mount one of them in the glove box. or just screw it and get video Ipod and run it thru the flip.
