gpchris Posted June 21, 2007 Report Posted June 21, 2007 Just wondering where i can find one because i plan on taking my ac out.. The 3.4 is so big its hard to work around the AC. Plus my AC doesn't work and i don't use it since its a project car. So its not worth repairing. BTW does anybody have a list of what to take out? Quote
19Cutlass94 Posted June 22, 2007 Report Posted June 22, 2007 prolly like $15-$20.... or somewhere around that... Quote
Psych0matt Posted June 22, 2007 Report Posted June 22, 2007 hmmm, i thought they didnt make them. I'll have to check that out Quote

19Cutlass94 Posted June 22, 2007 Report Posted June 22, 2007 A/C Compressor By-Pass Pulley $41.89 Please call store for availability BK 6601843 ok so I was a little off on the price Quote
Psych0matt Posted June 22, 2007 Report Posted June 22, 2007 well I'm definitely going to do that. I've had no AC for like two years because my compressor is shot, and I think the pulley is dying. Quote
slick Posted June 22, 2007 Report Posted June 22, 2007 If your ditching the complete AC for weight loss, your only gonna shed about 30 lbs of dead weight. Quote
gpchris Posted June 22, 2007 Author Report Posted June 22, 2007 Its not really weight, I just don't use ac and its not worth the money to repair. Plus I gain some space in the engine bay. Quote

Crazy K Posted June 22, 2007 Report Posted June 22, 2007 Matt, why not look at getting it fixed? I can remove and install the compressor is ten minutes, we could go to a yard and locate a good used one. Quote
Andrew Posted June 23, 2007 Report Posted June 23, 2007 im with Ken. i mean, reman compressors arent that expensive. on the other hand i can see Matt not needing AC since he drives a vert. AC = top down. Quote
19Cutlass94 Posted June 23, 2007 Report Posted June 23, 2007 a reman compressor is 108.xx +tax..... not that expensive... Other than gaining room in the engine bay, theres prolly gonna be less drag from the smaller pulley... Quote
Psych0matt Posted June 23, 2007 Report Posted June 23, 2007 AC = top down. Pretty much. I mean it woulda been nice a few weeks ago when it was like 90* all the time, but now that its back to normal temps I'm pretty good. chances are nothing will happen with either for at least a few weeks anyways Quote
Andrew Posted June 23, 2007 Report Posted June 23, 2007 ....theres prolly gonna be less drag from the smaller pulley... I dont think it will be a noticeable difference at all, seeing as how when the AC is off its not creating much/if any drag. Quote
toms92gpse Posted June 25, 2007 Report Posted June 25, 2007 We have them at advance auto parts but at my store at least we would have to order it and have it the next day. They are about $35, I was pricing one for my mother inlaws 95 gtp because her a/c is shot and the bearings in it are screaming. Quote
