:gears: Took a road trip for the Dub Magazine car show and expo in Miami's South Beach over the weekend with my '96 Cutty. BTW, she's now up about 338K miles now. I had a flawless trip, there and back flying up and down the interstate and around town. No problems! But I tell ya, the old phrase of ''ending a hell of a weekend with a bang'' was not my idea of what occurred monday night. Just got into town, and dropped my bud off at his house. Unbeknownst to me, my car had decided it was time to retire. Take off from his driveway, and get about 100feet away. Old Cutty decides that when she shifts to second gear, all I hear is BANG!!!!!!!!!! there goes my transmission! So now, my old girl is down to just first gear, waiting on her new trans to arrive. Thank god I was olny a short distance from my friend's house, I just limped her back at a whopping 15 miles per hour. Eh, why not drive it.. what am I gonna do? Blow up the trans?

You busted the reverse reaction drum, which is common, but usually happens much earlier. When that breaks, you'll have 1st gear only. I destroyed mine when the trans had about 130k on it.

I'm tempted to ponder... whether you could drive in first gear up to about 30mph. then shift into D or OD and still have third and fourth gear!

My 91 vert had no third, but I could manually drive in 2nd, shift into OD over 50 mph, and it would upshift twice and I'd still have 4th. GM's are fun like that!!!!
