So that blasted seal is leaking on my car, it has been for a while. So recently i got sick of dumping oil in there constantly and decided to try and fix it. I went to 60degree and found a post that sais, if you take of the exhaust manifold you have a tiny bit of room with which you can try to rtv the problem. The first time i tried i used only the rtv. It still leaked. The second time i tried i used a rubber gasket from a mag light and more rtv. It still seems to be leaking possibly worse than before. 3.4 dohc. Anyone have ne ideas?¿

take it apart and fix it right? :dunno: mine leaks, I wish I woulda remembered to do that while i had the engine out, but I was more worried about getting it done. mine doesn't leak that incredibly bad i guess, i just know i have to add some when the one lifter starts ticking.

Sounds like you didn't clean the area enough before applying the fix. I've done that before and it never leaked again. I soaked the mating surfaces totally with Clean-R-Carb before I did it. I also put a small notch in the plug so that when I lined the notch up with the head I could pry it up about 1/4 inch and really clean the shit out of it. I also used High Temp sealer. And a smallblock Chevy distributor gasket instead of an 'o' ring.

Unfortunately the only way around it is to remove the head and do it correctly if the other easier fix won't work.

Good luck!
