leman
so yesterday i was out for a drive and my check engine light came on, i pulled over turned of the car and plugged in my scan tool, was getting code 32. which has sumtin to do with the EGr valve. The other day i was under my car and noticed there were some exhaust leaks at the joints so i used some type of goop to repaire the holes it fixed the holes, but since then i have the error 32 code, for the EGR, before i fixed the holes i had no codes what so ever. so i am thinking now theres more back pressure in the exhaust and mabe the EGR gasket is leaking. I was looking at the gasket and it looks pretty ruff. Like its be subjected to alot of heat over the last 15 years, asuming it the original. Is the gasket like a cork style and can be replaced with cork and some black gasket maker. Or does it need something else. Is ther only the one gasket for the EGR. Figure as i am going to have to remove it i may as well clean the EGR to. Can i just blast it with carb cleaner or brake cleaner. I did notice that since i fixed the exhaust, the idle was normall, where as before it would surge a little bit when stopped. since yeaster day i notice also that the car is harder to start. Before it would start with just touching the key when it was cold. not now with the code 32. gimme some tips Thanks
Robby1870
So you plugged the holes in the tube and then you got the code 32? Odds are the valve is faulty or the port on the manifold is blocked up with carbon buildup. As for the gasket, they seem to hold up pretty well, but that could be the problem too. Best thing is to take the valve off and inspect the port on the manifold and the gasket as well. But a new gasket for the EGR valve, not a cork gasket as the EGR gasket is made to take the heat. What year and engine is this?
19Cutlass94
more than likely the port between the TB and the EGR is blocked with carbon. very common. Just take some intake cleaner and a clothes hanger and clean it out...
Crazy K
let me give you a tip dude... the engine info would help. in any case.. you probably have a blocked passage in the intake for the egr. pretty common on the 3.1, 3100, and 3.4 DOHC. clean the port!
