Yup. ive finally finished it. the car is on the road, well it was was.

After driving it around for 5 minutes i developed a horrble tap in the motor. i drove it right home after noticing and after listening its gotta be either a bearing or lifter.

yeah so i think my motor is fucked now and probably all thanks to that fucking intense oil filter relocation plate. i had no choice but to start the motor and quickly turn it off about 4 times with no oil pressure to see if i could get that adapter to work.

Im going to try some lucas today and if that doesnt work i will be offering it for sale

no relocation=no trans. filter needs to be relocated to put a 5 speed in. I would like to sell the car as a whole, because i dont have the means to part it out really. ill know in a few days whats goin on and decide

it took me almost 2 months just to figure out how i would fabricate the oil filter relocation after, prolly 6 months altogether just to find parts, maybe 3 weeks total of actual work. i have squeezed evey bit of time and effort out of myself that i could, not to mention every penny. im pretty much broke now because of this car and i do not have time, means or money to go any further. it would kill me to lose this car i love it with a passion, but im just screwed right now im at the end of the line. if anyone has any interest in it i need money and if you do i will have to sell it. otherwise it will have to get parked for go knows how long maybe even a year until i can straighten myself out and have room for another project.

Can of engine restore, see if it gets quiet? If it gets quiet and stays quiet change out for fresh oil and pray.

Hold onto it, you will kick yourself later if you don't.

Sound clip would be helpful. It could be something not as bad as you might think. No need to toss the baby out with the bath water.

So, I don't think I get all of this...

so, you swapped in a L67 with a 282, but the stock L67 oil filter won't fit with the 282 in there, so you made your own adapter to make the filter fit?

ok, get a cardboard roll from a roll of paper towels and with the motor running, listen and put it up against the valve covers. Even better, get stethoscope of your doctor has a spare one, and use that. See if it's loudestr under the valve covers, and if not you're screwed.

Yeah, it might not be as bad as you tihnk. You don't wanna toss something that isn't necessarily broken.

without even using a screwdriver it sounds like its coming from the bottom of the motor towards the center, and yes i know thats shitty just to go by ear. i wont be able to do a full oil change or get a sound clip till sat. however on a positive note i have now discoverd there is a will and a way. i started working at a new shop (ford dealer ::)) since chrysler has been dicking me over. they have no prob letting me pull the car in and pull the motor. esp since i was cocky about it n said i can prolly get the motor and trans out in about 2 hours. so if i become positive its something in the lower part of the engine i can remove it and even possibly leave it at work to tinker with if not maybe bring it home.

god at least i have a WAY to fix the car now in worst case scenario

...and if i do end up rebuilding it i can guantee itll be built with at least 350hp at the crank

the motor in my 91 was making a lot of noise like that and it just turned out to be some carbon or something. after it was delivered, i started it up and the noise was gone :dunno: BG MOA seems to work pretty well for lifter noises. hope its not really in the bottom end.

So I guess the whole worse case scenario theory here is that the relocation didn't work as planned, starving the engine for oil resulting in this horrible noise?

What exactly happens when an engine is ran with no oil flow? I mean I can get a visual image, and I know it's very bad... but what actually could have happened to what part to make this noise?

that is correct! (chris farley voice in i forget what movie...)

when you starve an engine for oil you are scraping metal on metal: bearings, lifters, pushrods, pistons & cylinder walls, , & everything in the valvetrain. im sure i left others out....yea its not good

did a full oil and filter change. noticed no particles in the drained oil. used a full bottle of lucas i nhe changed oil and let it idle up to temp and for another 15 mins, no noise. as soon as i put load on the motor the tapping starts and gets bad at 1,500 or above. once i pull it in it will continue to tap idling but not as bad as driving. i tried to get a sound clip with my phone but it was useless.

i think what i might try to do is get a motor off ed morad and keep mine around to tinker with unless somoene wants it.

thats my updates for now
