Bake82
I'm trying to cut off the trailing arm as I can't for the life of mebreak the bolt. Im trying with a sawzill to get through the "head" of the trailing arm that attches to the car. Anybody successfully cut through it? what did you use? Thanks! 19Cutlass94
You might have issues where its connects to the knuckle, but I mean some PB blaster, maybe some heat, but I just let mine soak in PB blaster for a couple minutes and they came right off wit ha breaker bar with no problems... CSI_MuNkY
Never heard of this PB blaster, where can I get it (in Canada) Maybe I will soak all my bolts with it the night before I start all my work... I KNOW I'm going to come accross a lot of stubborn bolts. If that doesn't work for ya Kyle, I agree with Crazy K.... a cut off wheel or angle grinder! 19Cutlass94
NAPA carries it. try there. If not... Ill send you a case
Bake82
I have hit it with a solvent that has never done me wrong before, but this time they bolts WILL NOT budge. I will try a cut off wheel and see how that goes as the sawzill isn't doing that great. Jamie I HIGHLY suggest letting all your bolts soak in some kind of rust inhibitor stuff. mdelorie
It must be extremely corroded if it's having that much of a hard time coming out. I used a 3 foot aluminum pipe on the end of my ratchet, worked like a charm to break the nuts loose. Beware if you're planning on buying new bolts for the trailing arms: Four of them cost me over $100 at the stealership.... but, that's my local chevy dealer, owned by crooks. z34duck
thats why i bought my new bolts at the hardware store hell I work at a chevy dealer and even with my discount it is always a last resort to buy aything from them
89GP_SE
the worst part for jamie is that he would put that rust inhibitor crap and they still wouldnt come loose, damn eastern canada and all their salt filled streets
Bake82
Mine have been on there since 88, and I can't break them loose. I have other trailing arm bolts so I'm not concerned about spending $$ on the new bolts. It sucks as I'm at a stand still right now because of this...oh well...I'm going to try a cut off wheel tomorrow night.
slick
Too bad it's still bolted to the car. You could try some Electrolysis: http://gometaldetecting.com/electrolysis_cleaning.htm
GOT2B GM
I used a grinder with a cutting disc to cut the head off the bolt. I went to a local hardware supplier and bought stainless bolts for a fraction of what GM wanted.

AWeb80
my pass side came off fine..but the drivers side was friggen hard... the body mount was loose, but the TA was rusted to the bolt, so it just twisted around....i torched the ta in half and then heated up the body mount and it finally came loose w/ a few whacks from a BFH
Bake82
Yah I was able to get them off tonight! WHAT A PAIN IN THE ASS!! I took a cut off wheel to the head and nut of bolt bolts, along with an air chisel. and they finally popped out and they're off right now. Hopefully tomorrow night I can get the rear suspension done! thanks for the tips guys!
