Brake upgrade! Fronts and rears. G-Stop Brakelines are in!

Well, I'm picking up 2 front 96 assemblies for $60 each off a 96 GTP. They are already pulled off and sitting in storage. All I have to do is removed the rear brakes myself. I also just ordered the Goodridge G-Stop High Performance Brakeline's to seal the deal. The plan is to clean up the parts up and paint them. I wont be putting on the front assemblies possible until I get a set of coil overs. I think I'll hold off on the parking brake for now, since mine doesnt work anyways. The yard I'm going to doesnt have the car sitting on rims, so I'll have to goto another yard for the parking brake.

In the end, I think it will be worth the extra stopping power.

sweet. i just did that. i did the 94+ parking brake assembly also and brand new cables. the goodridge lines i ordered were on backorder, so i cancelled it and i had my friend that works at "tubes n hoses" make me a set, so im going to pick them up and install them tomorrow along with flushing my brake fluid. good luck. may as well get new ball joints and tie rod ends while youre at it. it sucks balls without an air gun. mine had obviously been taken off before cuz of how the threads on the shaft were flattened, so it made it a bitch. ended up changing my wheel bearings, too.

Yeah get some pics! I think I'll be very happy with these. But it wont be fair when I add them, cause it will go from 92 stock to 96 with the new lines. But, atleast it will be better.

after reading up some, i just went with Mag 1 DOT 3. didnt wanna chance having any problems. here are some pics (i also have some of the rear, just substiture front for rear in the url): http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v476/pwmin/91%20Grand%20Prix/front%20brake%20upgrade/

Hey looking good, but you still have the 10.25 rotor right?

nope, i did both the 94/95+ rear and 95/96+ front upgrades. i hope to get red stuff pads and ebc rotors sometime not too long from now, i just didnt have the money, so i just got cheapo rotors and pads for now.

theyre basically just stainless steel lines like the goodridge ones with some sort of colored plastic coating over them. the fittings are very similar to the stock ones. not sure if thats what youre looking for or not. my invoice doesnt have a brand name or anything on it.

I hope they still work, cause I got the 92's for my car. But when doing the swap it says nothing about the brakelines, so I'm thinking I'll be in the clear.

I've got the old 10.5" rotors, and thinking of getting the 96+ front knuckels for the 11.25" rotors. Since my front strut bearings are bad, and springs need replacing. To do all this I assume you need to remove the whole assembly, (bearings, ball joints, tie rod ends?). Do i need a spring compressor to remove the assembly and re-install, or just if I want to replace the springs/bearings?

Yes, drop the whole assembly. If you can get a 96, you could just slap in in there with out a spring compressor. You need to remove the Outer tie rod, and the 36mm Hub Nut. You can leave the ball joint on, just remove the nut and cotter pin. What I'll be doing is getting a spring compresser because I bought new lower plates for it and will swap them over. My original plan was to just put CO's on the 96 assembly's, but money is somewhat tight so I'll doubt I'll do it. My springs were fine from my 92 GP. My struts were sure shot though.

theres a guy on motorswap.org that cut the the caliper bracket off the assembly and welded on a different piece to use f-body calipers. im considering doing that down the road. never thought of that before, but its a better idea than an adapter bracket.
