kuwaitliberation
Just what I have read and seen on all the data the Purolator Pure One oil filter is the only filter to get an "A" grade on both mechanics and material in several independent tests. This includes side by side testing against K&N and NAPA Gold as well as about 15 other brands of filters.

They are just the smallest step down from that. Everyone will also tell you that if you use a synthetic oil, you don't really have to worry about viscosity breakdown because it is impervious to that. SuperTech synthetic motor oil is the cheapest synthetic oil and works really good. The SuperTech oil filters are rated decent bargain oil filters. They state you get more for your money on those. They actually rate "B" material and "C" mechanics. Considering that Mobile M1 filters get "B" and "B+" when Pure One is the only double "A" rating, that's not bad for a $2 filter. You are going to change it in 6,000 miles anyway (yes, synthetic is at least 6,000 mile oil change). I have researched this junk because I am a scientist and I have a natural curiosity for it. I had a bunch of other links in my bookmarks that don't work anymore, FTL! But they all say the same thing over and over.
ron350
Pureone long filter is L24011. The debate about Wix or Pure One will go on forever over at BITOG. I personally like the Pure One a little better than the Wix but they cost $7.00 each here. If you can buy Pure One’s for $2.00 each you are lucky. Before you believe any thing about products you read on any forum do your own research. Over at BITOG there are way to many people defending Champion Labs oil filter. Makes you wonder why don't it. I will trade you two e-core Chanpion Lab filters for a single Wix or Pureone. LOL
Michele
i've always had to use the pf47 delco filter.... for some odd reason, i tried the 52, and it was loose.... threads did not match at all.. btw, mines a 96 cutty with the 3.1L
ron350
Michel I have read the same thing before about loose fitting threads on an oil filter. You just got hold of a defective filter or a miss packaged filter. I really wonder if it makes much difference in the long run if you use the long filter instead of the short filter. Just one of those things that seems like the right thing to do.
Andrew
http://minimopar.knizefamily.net/oilfilterstudy.html http://motorcycleinfo.calsci.com/Filters.html After reading thru those, I am now a believer. Ive always heard opinions, which are a dime a dozen, but never read a breakdown like that. I absolutely love the way the minimopar page breaks it down to exacting science. There is a defninitive end result to the studies. It is just incredible how much work went into that. And they tested EVERY filter I have ever and never heard of LOL! You are more than welcome for the info. I love facts and data.

pwmin
from what i gathered, ac delco was the best "cheaper filter" and pure one and mobil 1 were the best "upper end"
