AWeb80 Posted June 8, 2007 Report Posted June 8, 2007 i know some of you run ACDelco filters (good thing too)...but there is a acdelco filter that will fit our cars, but is alot longer.... I run a stock size wix filter....anyone know what the compatable bigger wix filter size is? i know Kenny runs the bigger acd filter..... ...this post make any sense? Quote
sl3196 Posted June 8, 2007 Report Posted June 8, 2007 PF52 is the delco p/n. The napa gold I use is 1036. Just ask for a filter for a 4.3 blazer if you go somewhere else to get em. Quote
AWeb80 Posted June 8, 2007 Author Report Posted June 8, 2007 the stock Wix filter i run is the 51040 Quote
19Cutlass94 Posted June 8, 2007 Report Posted June 8, 2007 It makes sense, although the only Delco number I know of is PF47... which is the shorter filter. If theres a longer filter that works whats the Delco number!? But really theres not that much oil in these cars... like what 4.5qts? it doesnt need a huge filter IMHO Quote
sl3196 Posted June 8, 2007 Report Posted June 8, 2007 Lol you all posted too damn quick and didn't see my response. Quote

1990lumina Posted June 8, 2007 Report Posted June 8, 2007 true, more filter the better. Wish I could get a larger one for my Millenia lol..it has a filter the size of a small cup..like could probably hold half a water of oil lol...soo small...crank case only takes 3.8liters too :S...it's scary since the s/c uses the engine oil for lube as well..it's not as sophtiticated as the GM s/cer with their seperate oil Quote
Crazy K Posted June 8, 2007 Report Posted June 8, 2007 PF 47 and pf 52 are interchangeable. In fact many databases will give you different spec on the same cars. all the cars I have ever service could have a PF 52 substituted for a PF 47, except the 91 6000 I had, and this 91 3300 ciera I am messing with. Quote
Psych0matt Posted June 8, 2007 Report Posted June 8, 2007 i just always grab the 52, but i think the 3.4 uses that anyways Quote
mfewtrail Posted June 8, 2007 Report Posted June 8, 2007 Adam, just walk in the parts store and pick up the normal filter you use and then compare it to the others on the shelf to find a longer one. That's what I do if I'm shopping for a longer filter and don't know the part number. I use the AC Delco PF52's or the Motorcraft equivalent usually. Quote
mra32 Posted June 8, 2007 Report Posted June 8, 2007 I look in the books they have and they have always told me to use PF52 on my 91 3.1 Lumina. Quote
rockfangd Posted June 9, 2007 Report Posted June 9, 2007 for fram it is 3918 for the longer one and3387 for the regular one. I really do not think it matters Quote
GutlessSupreme Posted June 9, 2007 Report Posted June 9, 2007 I always use the Delco PF52. I think the stock size was supposed to be PF47 like someone mentioned. Quote
19GT92 Posted June 9, 2007 Report Posted June 9, 2007 here's the part numbers shorter filters ac delco pf 47 fram ph3387 purelator L10111 longer filters delco pf52 fram ph3980 purelator L240111 and the 4.3;s use the same filters as the older 3.1's do Quote
Lee Posted June 15, 2007 Report Posted June 15, 2007 3980 is another number. Walmart uses this number for their SUPERTECH filter. It's the short one. Quote

pwmin Posted June 15, 2007 Report Posted June 15, 2007 Just ask for a filter for a 4.3 blazer enough said Quote
94CutlassSLCoupe Posted June 15, 2007 Report Posted June 15, 2007 my dad's 04 4.3 is supposed to use the small filter. Two vehicles I know work for the long filter are '88 Cutlass Supreme 2.8L AND '95 Blazer 4.3L 4x4 Quote
R Dubya Posted June 15, 2007 Report Posted June 15, 2007 I use ACD but Motorcraft is comparable for quality. PF52 + 5 qts FTW. Quote
RobertISaar Posted June 19, 2007 Report Posted June 19, 2007 not to jack the thread or anything but... if the stock filter is 51040, whats the bigger one? my monte is going to get its last oil change for a while until i get back from basic training and i want to know what to grab... by the way i only use wix or delco filters but my closest auto store only carries wix so that would be the one i'm looking for. Dunno why you have a 5 in front of it though my napa p/n is 1036 for their gold oil filters. Quote
ron350 Posted June 20, 2007 Report Posted June 20, 2007 The long Wix oil filter # is 51036. I have read that some Napa Gold filters may be of higher quality than the standard Wix oil filter. Please do not quote me on that I have a lousy memory. What was on the shelf last month may not be the same as what there this month. Wix makes some of the AC Delco oil filters but not all of them. Other companies like Champion Labs makes filters for Delco that are not the same quality as the Wix made filters. The easy way to do it is buy Napa Gold #1036 long filter, like SL3196 listed above, and you know that you have the good one. Quote
