Ball joint test?

jack it up so the wheel is off the ground and grab the tire and move it from top to bottom and from side to side. if it moves in both directions (feels loose), its the hub, but if just up/down, the ball joint is prob bad.

Just wanted to add that when it's in the air, grab the wheel with both hands. First at 12 & 6, then at 9 & 3. If you get movement when you attempt to rock it at 12 & 6, your balljoint is shot. Movement at 9 & 3 = bad tie rod end.
