sonyman87
since i parked the lumina for overhaul. So far everything i mean EVERYTHIng is new in this baby. I got tons of photos for later when i release the unvailing. But i need HELP!!!111 Right now we are in the process of starting the car and its been in that process for the last 4 months. we cant figure out wtf why it wont start. I tried changeing chips to the old stock computer. Tested fuel good, coils good, ignition good, the motor will turn over but it does it very slow. not a fast spin like a broke in motor but on the slow side of things. like 1 revolution a second. maybe a touch faster. if you pull 1 spark plug you will see that it dosnt spark to ground but it spins alot faster boarder line normal, We have been thinking that the comptuer dosnt think the motor is spinning fast enough to get the ignition to ignite. im not sure if i buy that i think its soemthing else. What other factors would cause this situation. All input welcome! Motor 1995 3.4DOHC motor with Zero miles: trany 4t60e Reman custom, new a/c pump, new alt, new waterpump, timing belt on motor is in prefect condition. For the mean time i just bought a 2002 Pontiac Bonnieville. 3.8s2. very sharp car, its my new highway car b/c the 88 buick broke a break line and fuel line( trying to change fuel filter went horribly wrong: not my fault just bad lines)
Crazy K
? hmmm tried a different starter? is it shimmed right? no spark ever at all? I don't know..... hmmm actually.... try this: pull all six plugs, lay all ontop of the engine, disengage the fuel pump (pull the fuse) and crank to see if you get some spark. hopefully that will allow the enigne to crank fast enough. Tried 2 starters. 2 batteries and charger booster to get enogh power just not happening. no park at all does a crank sensor come into play for starting? im sure the cam sensor is for after the motor is running. im hopeing its just a seonsor and the reason its slow to turn over is due to the fact that the motor is not borken in yet. 1990lumina
So, when you take the one plug out the motor turns over faster?? Sounds like the starter is too weak for the compression being made when all the plugs are in or something.. CPS has to do with ignition/coils, but I forget how. TurboGTU
Did you connect the ground wires right to the engine block or trans and to the fram rail? People forget to tighten this wire down. Check the postitive cable all the way to the starter. You only need shimming if its making a loud metalic grind. YOu checked the cam timming with the crank in synch. Check fuse block for blown fuses. Check crank sensor and wire that is connected to ignition modual.
