Addicted2bass
How hot should a 3100 engine get at idle? after driving long enough for the engine to warm up (10 min or so) If i sit at idle for much more than a minute my temp gauge goes up to around 210. I just had the coolant flushed. It was really bad, probably original, all gummed up with that brown crap. I dont remember my engine getting this hot last summer. Should my engine be getting to 210, especially with brand new coolant?
19Cutlass94
You might wanna check to see if there is still air in the system, but really, 210*F really isnt that bad at all. I duno what the concern would be. If I went off the guage cluster, thats about what mine always runs. Then again the guage cluster is very inaccurate. Addicted To Boost
My 3.1 runs at ~180-190* on the original thermostat and new coolant, but again it is a 3.1, not a 3100.
mfewtrail
210*F is normal. If you have some temperature measuring device, you could always verify that it's actually reading 210*F. The stock gauges tend to read a bit on the high side in most cases.

Addicted2bass
Ok cool. I was worried because i dont remeber it getting that warm last summer. Maybe my memory just sucks that badly! There was so much of that brown sludge in my coolant system it had to be flushed twice. Ive been told thats just what happens to dexcool when it gets old, ive got the regular green stuff in there now.
CuttySup
My buddy's '94 GP 3100 always idled at that temp so I would assume it's normal. My 3100 in my Cutlass always stayed around 180.
