Crazy K Posted June 10, 2007 Report Posted June 10, 2007 open your hood, physically grab the car by the car support... firmly push and pull it from front to rear, and see how and where the powertrain moves. if there is alot of visible play clunking or slack from the mounts, replace the bad ones! I would bet if you have never replaced them dogbones, they are bad having split or rotted rubber on the engine side of the mounts. Quote
rockfangd Posted June 10, 2007 Report Posted June 10, 2007 either that or just look for hydraulic oil at the bottom mounts.. Common problem but a fairly easy fix. and as for the tranny always run alittle over Quote

And whats the powertrain? I guess once I find that out, I can move it and watch it. and yes, I have never replaced the dog bones. I've heard of ppl drilling out the old ones and putting new ones in for that. Quote

89GP_SE Posted June 10, 2007 Report Posted June 10, 2007 on 3.1's, how I check to see if the dogbones are any good is open your hood, get in your car and start it up. Throw it in reverse and whatch the motor through the windshield, see how much it moves.. if it seems that it moves alot, then throw it in driver and see how far it moves forward, then shut off the car, get out and look at the rubbers in the dog bones and see how soft they are. That would actually work well. Anyone know the size of the rubbers in the 3.1's dog bones to be replaced? Quote
