how do you pop it i don't care about the boot all i need is the lower control arm (its a parts car)

you can use a pickle fork, or just use a BFH and hit the bottom.

Pickle fork, crowbar, BFH + a lot of time, swearing and aggrevation...

 

or rent a balljoint seperator.

Depending on how well your balljoint is stuck, you might not be getting it out with a pickel fork.

 

IIRC, Kent Moore(or one of the other specialty tool comanies) makes a ball joint tool for these vehicles. It reminds you of a C-clamp, but at the clamp it, it has a fork. Tightening the tool pops it out, and does not ruin the boot. Very ingenious design, I still wanna make a few.
