90' Corisica 5-SPD Donor.

I saw this car at scrap yard and was wondering if it would be a good donor for 5-spd swap. It has a 3.1L so I'm hoping it's a 282. What all do I need from that car to swap for my auto? Thanks

as far as i know, the only Corsicas to get the Getrag 282 were 2.8 equipt. but '90 was a 'changeover' year (like W-bodies), so i dunno. i'd really recommend a 282 from a W-body, since you may run into problems with the clutch master & slave cylinder as well as the intermediate shaft and driveshaft lengths. anyone else have anything to add? i'm actually thinking of getting an '88 Corsica XT, it has leather interior and loaded with a 2.8/Getrag 282 (RARE Cars & Concepts modified factory Corsica). the j/y wants $200 for the whole car (tranny gone, needs lots of stuff but not wrecked) but i have too many project cars as it is.... oh well. good luck.

yeah, I agree with you, Josh, you need a Getrag from a W-body. It will make it much easier for all the reasons that were mentioned.

Would anything be useful, ie clutch pedals etc???? I haven't seen any manual w-bodys in scrap yard yet. Thanks for input.

not sure there, but keep your eyes open for '88-'90 Grand Prix coupes with either the 2.8 or 3.1. those were the most common cars to get the 282 you need. some Cutlass Supremes got them too, and maybe even the '90 3.1 Lumina. i seriously doubt any '88-'90 Buick Regal came with a manual. just make sure your 282 comes off of a 2.8/3.1 engine and NOT the Quad 4. good luck

Can I use the pedals and such off a Z34 or would they be different for the 284?? Just want to know what I can get from where cause there's not to many options, thanks. I take it no w-body after 90 got the 282.

yup, '90 was the last year for the 282 in W-bodies. i would assume that the clutch pedal from a DOHC/284 would work, but i'm not sure. i know they had a very different hydraulic clutch setup...
