Geting axles out of 282 tranny

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

I'm trying to remove the strut assemblies from my 92 CS. I can not get the axle nut loose and want to take the axle along with strut assembly out of the car. I am wondering how you pop the axles out. I've been told you can do this by pushing the axles into the tranny and pulling out quickly and hard. I tried this and it doesn't work.

Any help would be great!!

Thanks

Is the axle nut unbolted? If no you need that unbolted.

I can't for the life of me get it unbolted....I have the tie rod and ball joint's undone ready for the assembly to come out tho..just need to get the axle out of the tranny...

It would've been better to do that before removing the tierod/ball joint..

get a bigger breaker bar, it has to come off. then just yank them out.

use a decent sized prybar and use the subframe to pry against and pop them out.

go from under the car with anything that resembles a prybar. place it between the back of the inner and trans and smack it out with a hammer. it comes right out in 2 tiny hits no matter how stuck. youll need a decent sized hammer. god ive had to put axles in and out of my prix like 20 times now with all the trial and error shit ive needed to do.

PS, or just yank the fuck out of it and rip the tripod outta the inner. even easier

Hey guys,

thanks for the help! I was able to get the axle nut loose with an impact and huge ass breaker bar...

I was able to pop the axle out with a prybar and a small push on the bar!
