GtipGary
Does any one have any suggestions on what the easiest way possible to change the oil pump drive seal. Preferably without removing a head
z34duck
the right way is to remove the head . but I have fixed a couple of them buy taking a die grinder and grinding the top of the oil pump drive so i could lift it up enough to get the old seal off with a pick then took a new seal and worked it ove the top of the drive and put some black rtv on it .let it dry overnight had good luck with it not leaking. digitaloutsider
I'd just get a Maglite O-ring and RTV the shit out of it. There's no way I'd grind on that thing.
Pontiac6KSTEAWD
What the holly hell peoples? I have replaced 3 of those o-rings on 3 diferent 60* motors, and have never taken out the head, or anything of the sort. Take off the air intake snorkels, fuel lines (after depressureizing them), upper intake plenum without throttle body. Use vice grips or channel locks to turn the top of the plug while you pull it out. It will take a little work to get it out, but it will come. I have done this exact process on my Turbo, a 3.1 6000 with 110k on it, and a 2.8 with 230k on it. No problems at all.

joey b
I bought a $3 box of O-rings from the HELP! aisle at Auto Zone. I pulled the Distributor drive up enough to slip a new one. Tightened it down and called it good. No problems as of yet. I've done this on 2 3.4's
