writing mp3 disk

My car stereo won't pick up the mp3 disk that I have burned and I don't know what I am supposed to do to make it work. I used the correct encrypting system (joliet) but it is not reading any data. How do I create one of these?

The stereo is a Clarion DXZ775

I don't know why yours isn't working, but you can just create a data CD and throw the mp3s on it, it should work fine. I've swapped between that and using the MP3 CD feature in Roxio/Nero for years between my Kenwood deck and iRiver CD player and never had a problem.

Yeah, just burn mp3's as a data disc or make an mp3 cd. This stuff is made for the average user these days. I remember back in the day when I had to convert mp3 back to wav files so I could burn custom mixes. Ahhh the memories.

Try simplifying it. Put a blank disc in, and simply drag files from wherever to the CD drive in My Computer, right-click on it when you're done and say "Burn these files to CD" or whatever, and see if that disc is usable.

The only time I ever had trouble with my JVC deck not recognizing anything on a CD is when I tried to do exactly as it said rather than just burning a CD like somebody who is more computer illiterate would.

I still don't know exactly how to get the tags right, but since I have my MP3 player jacked into it 90% of the time, its really not worth trying to figure it out.

so yea, I'm with these guys

Computer geek here. A few questions. What type of CDR are you using? I use a CDRW, but some people just use a straight CDR.

Are you burning file folders or just files? When you look at it on your puter does it show file folders or are all the files at the root of the CD?

Just one last question... You aren't using DVD recordables, right?

^I've also never had a problem with burning files in folders (only one step though, ie just one folder from the root). All of my MP3 CD's have been burned this way.

Problem is that the program doesn't automatically close the project unless I check the box. Thank you for your help though.

Can anyone help me with the tagging? If I have a file that I didn't directly off of a CD, when I burn it it is appearing exactly as the file is on my CD player (eg. "Tool - Opiate") Is there any quick way to edit the tag so that it will just read "Opiate" on my CD player? FWIW, I do have Microsoft Visual studio if that may be of use.

Adaptec EZ CD Creator. I believe that you can go to the options and have it always close the CD.

I wouldn't know where to begin. My MP3 shows artist - title, too, but it reads the ID3 tag on it. I have Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 and have mine setup to where it updates the ID3 tags automatically while I ain't doin nothin. Works great, but if yours is using only filenames, I don't know where to start.

download a program called "ID3-TagIT 3"

it's freeware, and it does EVERYTHING you'll ever need to do with tags. will also rename files according to their tags, in whatever format you want (ie artist - title or album.title whatever)

Since we are on the subject of mp3 disks, can the stock head unit of a 95 CS read mp3 disks, or a data cd, or does it have to be a plain old audio disk?

yeah, I go to that page, click download and it attempts to redirect me but doesn't. From some other pathway I was able to get to a different page, but apparently that page is down.

Only a plain old audio disk will work.

DOH! I said Adaptec EZ CD Creator! Roxio bought that out years ago! LOL! Showing my loss of brain cells is starting to catch up here.

Chances are that when you ripped the mp3, it tagged both the artist and song title to the same tag... like they are both in the song title portion of the tag.... If your CD player is set to display song title, it will display both if that's where they are located... you have to edit the tags BEFORE you burn them to cd.... I've had this problem many times before when ripping cds to mp3.
