gpchris
I had my alternator tested at autozone last week and they said it was a bad alternator or bad cable. Anyway this autozone is about 20 miles away from my house. The battery was dead so there was no starting it. I got a jump and then by the time i got to autozone i turned it off and then immediately tried to start it and it was as dead as it was back at home. Anyway I got it fully charged at autozone and since then I've started the car 20+ times, listened to radio, rolled windows and sunroof up and down(I was acually fixing the switch). And the still starts fine... I don't know how much I can get out of a battery but i'm thinking that my I have a bad alt cable that’s charging the battery some of the time... kuwaitliberation
In my pickup, I had the same EXACT symptoms. It wound up being the 6" cable that went from the battery to the pos output control thing (don't quite know what to call that....) Anyway, it was really intermittent because if I hit a rr tracks and it moved it around, it wouldn't work right. I move the cable (like you did when you charged the battery) and everything was good. It finally stopped starting all together and I took a VM and got an open on that little cable. Replaced it and no problems since

gpchris
what cable are we talking about? the one that bolts on to the alt?
kuwaitliberation
what cable are we talking about? the one that bolts on to the alt? Probably not because the car runs when you don't have to worry about the battery, right. The Alt keeps it running. It's the one that, in my case, attaches from the battery to the starter solinoid on the fender well. That is a Ford thing, though so it wouldn't apply in this case. But it is the positive battery cable.
runt
My first guess would be the Aux post. Check that wire and even the connection there to make sure it's tight.
gpchris
So the cable i need is the one that hooks up to the positive on the battery? I'm just making sure..
