well everything was smooth sailing on the cutlass until i tried to put the rear ss brake lines on. i cranked the bitches as hard as i possibly could and they are still leaking brake fluid like a whore. anyone else using the old style ones having this problem by any chance??

If I knew how the older style lines were designed, I could help ya out, but I dont.

Did you try the other side yet? If you cant get that to work, wait and bring the car up here and well work on it to see if we can get it to work.

ya, can you get some pix or something? im not sure why if you can put newer brakes on an older car you cant use the older style lines.

you're using new crush washers, right?

I guess first I should ask which end is leaking

Are they flared like the original lines or not? "Invasion1" had to reflare the goodridge lines he put on his Cutty(don't remember what year it was or which goodridge kit he bought though..)

you have the copper washers there right? if so try to replace them and see what happens they are so cheap

yea that was my second thought.. might be the wrong flare.

I bet its a single flare instead of the factory double flare

I just got my g-stop lines but I haven't really looked at them.. but I'm pretty sure single flare is very unsafe for brake lines so I wouldn't think so.

sorry its been so long. i gotta look at them again, i was talking to a friend of mine and he also said it sounds like a flare problem. i'll keep you guys posted

not to bug, but any update? i need to order some lines and i wanna make sure i order the right ones. my rubber lines are shot on the outside, not leaking yet, but they will soon.

I now own Davis' car. If it would help I could take some close up pictures of the goodridge lines and the hard metal lines on the car to see if they're different than yours. His doesn't not have ABS.

Posted

that would be great. my car doesnt have abs either. what style lines does he have? im assuming it has the 94+ upgrade?

Posted

im just going to order the 94+ ones (12237) since im going to have all 94+ brakes.

so, what is the diff between 12236 and 12237, are the 7's just longer?

The car does not have the 94 upgrade. Just brand new rear 88-93 calipers

Yup...it's up on jack stands with front/rear suspension completely out of the car....getting ready to go into my own 88 Cutlass. Unfortunetly his car is being dismantled and the parts being used for my own 88 cutlass turbo 5 spd project!
