Ok so first off this if how far i am:

DSCN0038.jpg

First of all.. Do I have to take the push rods out? If so:

Set includes Permadry valve cover gasket(s) Supplied with one valve cover gasket due to an OE service procedure stipulating removal of one valve cover to replace both intake gaskets.

Won't I need to take both valve covers off??

And wheres the coolant drain plug? Or do I even have to drain the coolant?

Oh and Do I have to take the PS pump out to get the LIM out?

If you have any tips please let me know.

You should have posted this in your previous thread! but nonetheless....

First of all.. Do I have to take the push rods out? Yes, but no not do so until after the intake is off. MAKE CERTAIN that you do not mix ANY pushrods. they vary in length between intake and exhaust. I take a cardboard box and punch holes in it and put each in the appropriate hole.

Set includes Permadry valve cover gasket(s) Supplied with one valve cover gasket due to an OE service procedure stipulating removal of one valve cover to replace both intake gaskets. - they should include two! check the box itself, AZ has old info in the link

Won't I need to take both valve covers off?? Yes, SEE ABOVE!

And wheres the coolant drain plug? Or do I even have to drain the coolant? you should. it is on the lower drivers side of the radiator.

unhook the battery, remove the alternator and it's bracket. (3 on the side, on going to the rear head on the bracket as well. You should be able to lean the PS and alt off to the side and have plenty of clearance.

re-check every pusrod for proper length etc etc during assembly.

This is the set I got:

They didn't give me a choice, It came with metal pushrod guides.. So i'll be taking it apart tomarrow and if it doesn't have metal pushrod guides will it still work without any problems?

thats what you need. Again... it is the same part in their system whether on not you have pushrod guides!

it fits and works.

Importnat note... do clean the sufaces well, I would use a razor blade scraper, but do not worry about excessivvely cleaning the surface. these gaskets recede from the opening a biut more than the OEM, so issues like pitting are usually not a probelm. they are a great product :thumb:

This thread brings back memories. Oh, man you got so much to do still! Make sure you clean off all the old silicon and gasket material so you get a proper seal!

Was just wondering if your working on your GTP with the 3100?

In his sig he shows 2 GTP's. Just wondering if his green one has the 3100.

Edit, went on his car domains and his has a white GTP with a 3.4 but the green GP must be an se.

I don't care what any member says, the 3.4 was the stock engine in the GTPs ;)

its easier just to drain the radiator...

on a side note. I hated doing that job. the fun part hasnt even started yet! haha

You scared me but this job has been extremely easy so far.. And this is my first time on a newer engine.. This is how i've got it:

Does anyone know witch gaskets i have to seal with the rtv? I don't think the lower or valve covers have to be sealed but what about the egr and upper intake?

The LIM needs to be sealed with RTV. Once you set the gaskets on there you will see you need to put a 3/8" bead of RTV. Also the valve cover gaskets where the LIM meets the valve cover put some RTV in that triangle shaped corner.
