MonteCarloChick Posted May 11, 2007 Report Posted May 11, 2007 So as of lately my car drifts heavily to the left. Alright no big deal, take it in and see what's wrong. But I'd like to know what you think. The Problems: - Car drifts severely to the left - Feels like the bottom of the car isn't even attached when I hit a bump (it feels like it sways) - A heavy pulsing when I apply the brakes (almost like the pads are clapping onto the rotor). And I just had new Bendix rotors and titanium pads put on. - Loose steering when I go to turn or move around obstacles/morons in the road Quote
mdelorie Posted May 11, 2007 Report Posted May 11, 2007 Worn tie-rod ends and subsequent alignment problem could cause all of those except the braking problem (as far as I know). You could have something stuck between the pad and the disc. Quote
MonteCarloChick Posted May 11, 2007 Author Report Posted May 11, 2007 I just had tie rod ends put on 2 years ago, is it common for them to go bad so quickly? Quote
Crazy K Posted May 11, 2007 Report Posted May 11, 2007 sometimes. test: get a helper... one of you jerks the steering wheel left and right about 2 inches with about a 1/2 second pause between jerks... the other looks, feels, and tries to isolate the bad component while under the car. You'll probably find something making a click or thunk. You might have a bad balljoint too. that can be found by prying with a crowbar between the a arm and the spindle. Quote
19Cutlass94 Posted May 11, 2007 Report Posted May 11, 2007 Could be your strut bearings. and no, they usually last longer than 2 yrs Quote
joey b Posted May 16, 2007 Report Posted May 16, 2007 I'm betting tierods. If they haven't been greased 2 years is about expected. Quote
MonteCarloChick Posted May 16, 2007 Author Report Posted May 16, 2007 Well I'm going for an alignment check today at 2, so I'll now for sure then. Thanks Quote
MonteCarloChick Posted May 16, 2007 Author Report Posted May 16, 2007 Well I just took it to Dunn Tire to get the free alignment check, and the guy came out and said my alignment was perfect. So I told him the symptoms and he took it for a drive around the block (almost had a panic attack). He came back and said it was my right front strut bearing. So, 19Cutlass94, you get a gold star Quote
1990lumina Posted May 16, 2007 Report Posted May 16, 2007 Both my strut bearing in the Lumina were fucked lol..I just leanred to drive with both hands on the wheel haha... Quote

MonteCarloChick Posted May 16, 2007 Author Report Posted May 16, 2007 Hell no I didn't get it fixed I just took it there to see waht exactly was wrong. Plus they quoted me $350 to fix it... Quote
19Cutlass94 Posted May 16, 2007 Report Posted May 16, 2007 So that leaves two options: Your going to fix it? Your going to say fuck it? Quote
MonteCarloChick Posted May 16, 2007 Author Report Posted May 16, 2007 I have to fix it, it's annoying. Quote

joey b Posted May 16, 2007 Report Posted May 16, 2007 the stock tierods and balljoints did not have the grease fittings. If they do they can be found at the swivel joint of the tierod end where it attaches to the knuckle. Quote
