gpchris
My sister works at autozone and she says there are 2 types of lim gaskets for my car ones with push rod guides and one without. So does anyone know if my car has them or not? Its a 95 Grand prix with 95 l82.
19Cutlass94
Im pretty sure that on the '95+ the 3100's with the roller rockers got the guides in the LIM gasket, but dont hold me to this. Would prolly just be better to take it apart, and check to be for sure.
Crazy K
use the PERMS-SEAL gasket set. You will discover it is the same part number with or without the pushrod guides anyhow. I discovered that AZ dropped the price to about $56. Do NOT buy the plastic regular ones, get the metal ones or go home and never come back! You need those guides.

The pushrod guides on the intake gaskets are only designed to support the pushrods while the rockers are off during assembly. they are functionless once the car is put together. They are made of plastic for crying out loud! if your car does not have the metal guides... I think I know the point of contention/confusion. Only the 3100 with the older style non roller rockers need the metal guides. The roller rockers have a built in pivot axis negating the need for guides, as the rockers are unable to pivot side to side like the earlier ones were. 19Cutlass94
yeah the older 3100's need that metal guide. Depending on his setup ( not sure if he has the roller rockers or the guides in the LIM gasket, although he should ) it would just make it much easier to have those. ron350
Crazy K Is there an aluminum lower manifold gasket on the market for 3100?
Crazy K
um. I don't know what metal they are made of! LOL I would assume they are zinc or nickle plated steel. they are perma dry plus, ALtough their site says only one valve cover gasket, they really have two. http://autozone.com/R,APP778187/vehicleId,1989601/initialAction,partProductDetail/store,624/partType,00526/shopping/partProductDetail.htm
