my car doesnt have the orange wire leading to the ALDL?

i have a brown wire left over from my old cluster would that wire go to the ALDL?

There should be an orange wire in the ALDL connector that you splice into.

i went under and looked at the ALDL and it has no orange wire i could also be looking at the wrong thing :confused: its the place where you would plug in the code reader or as i have heard somewhere on here paper clip somthign together to get the codes out?

the wire is a tanish orange and it should be very easy to find. very easy. Even if you have to pull the 2 screws to get better access. I use the wire for my DIS and the ub3 cluster :mrgreen:

alright well here is what i got i got pics of the wires i have and the vut ones are for the UB3 that i picked up and have nowhere to go with them anyways i also got what wires i have in my ALDL

ok new problem i dont know if i need to replace the switches with senders on my car????

when i start the car the temp gauge does its little start thing then just sits blank after that would i have to replace this switch or sender???

 

also for the oil pressure guage when i turn the key to the ON position but dont start the car its read low pressure after the UB3's startup thing but when i turn the car on the pressure guage goes up to 2 bars above half?? would i have to change the switch or sender for this guage?????

 

i dont know wheather i have the senders or the switches? i had the analog guage cluster before( the ones you'll find on the newer models)

You have an oil Pressure Switch unfortunately. The gauges oil pressure gauge is just a dummy switch. Your temperature sender should be ok...mine isn't the most accurate thing in the world so I wouldn't worry too much

First, if you have the car running and the temperature gauge does nothing after several minutes of driving, then you have a switch.

Second, the oil pressure gauge sounds fine, if you're uncertain, look under the car next to the oil filter at the sender/switch itself, if it's short and stubby it's a switch, if it's about 4 inches long it's a sender. I made a thread about this last year when I did the swap, and I believe I had pics...

chances are you have the dummy oil sender and a coolant sender :mrgreen:

 

wouldent it be the dummy coolant sender and an oil sender?

Nope. That's why your analoge gauges had only H and L for oil pressure. Rockman is right

but my oil pressure on the UB3 shows it working (or appers to be) and the coolant has nothing showing up?

Did you repin the connector yourself? Maybe you flipped oil and temp wire I always do something like that :lol:

no i dont think i did are they the same color??

 

i went and ripped out a UB3 plug with the wires still kind of attached and i pretty much just matched the colors up but i also used the site diagram for reference?

Hmm site page says:

Base (analogue): C8 Battery Input

 

UB3: D4 Charge Input (brown)

 

 

Base (analogue) C16 Coolant Temp (dark green/white)

 

UB3: D12 (dark green/white)

 

I guess make sure you don't have a green wire going to a brown wire.

yeah well i mostly just matched wire color to wire color so i dunno??

lol rockman, the way i figure it. I already went through the cluster swap a year ago and i had to change he oil switch but not the coolant sensor. should be fine
