Tim
Just wanted to let everyone know what was found in order to add to the knowledge base. 92 Grand Prix My analog odometer would work intermittantly. Mostly in the morning when cool outside. I suspected the drive motor and no1kicker was willing to help by sending me a motor from a 90 grand prix. I took the cluster apart and found that the connector on my motor was different than the one he sent and also my motor felt like a stepper motor when manually turned versus a standard DC motor. Ended up taking the cluster to a speedo shop in Reno, NV and it was explained to me that usually the problem with GM analog odometers is binding in the number wheels. In this case, my motor was shot. When turned manually, a good motor felt just like the one no1kicker sent me. Apparantly, the connectors must be swapped by removing the disc-like device off of the rear of the motor. I was also told that it is possible to install the disc connector backwards and reverse the polarity so be aware if you have this problem. I left the speedo shop $135 lighter and with a warning not to reset the trip odometer while the car is moving as that will strip the plastic gears inside. Hope any of this helps someone in the future. Tim
