White93z34
not really, unless you find an alternator shop to build a good one for you. be sure to make the parts counter clerk test the new one before it goes out the door.

The next alternator going into my 3.4 is going to have the Iceberg rear housing/heat sink/bearing assembly. http://www.alternatorparts.com/iceberg.htm
DOHCRagtopguy
Do not go the cheap rebuilt route. I get mine rebuilt by a specialty shop and they put components in that are better than OEM. Haven't had one go from that particular shop yet. They rebuild my starters also. I suggest installing it by popping out the RF axle assembly also. In my opinion that is the easiest and quickest way. Im still fighting with them to get my money back from the shitty alternators they sold me. This has been going on for well over a yr if not two
97loudcut
Have you looked into the actual process of replacing a DOHC alternator? If you have any problems you should PM "Slick" on here. I believe he has the magical "45 minute DOHC alternator job."

I ended up doing the same thing on my old Z34. After replacing the alternator several times in a short period, I had one built to tow truck specs.
