Dirty Rockstar
Okay, these questions could have their own threads, but I figured this would be easier for those with the knowledge and for me making it, lol.. I'll start with the most critical 'issue'. My 94 has developed a pretty noticeable vibration at highway speeds. I am attributing it to a bent or warped brake rotor because when I am slowing down, you can feel the brakes grab in one spot better than the rest. It feels real regular, and doesn't 'come and go' at different times a day. What else could cause a vibration at highway speeds? Anything under 50 MPH is fine, with no teeth clanking shimmys and shakes. I am hoping it's not a tie rod or anything like that because I had a tie rod break on the Lumina while I was driving.. When I have the car in the air do swap bumpers, fender and toss my dual exhaust on, I was going to inspect my suspension anyway, but I figured I'd get a head start.. Next.. ..GMPP trailing arms (Am I saying this right?) What are the part numbers, and can I order them from a GM dealer? I punched the model/part numbers into the GMPP website, but it didn't say anything specific to beiung for a WBody, 1g or 2g.. I am asking for the Lumina, so this isn't crucial to getting it running.. I need to get my DOHC and transmission first..
19Cutlass94
an imbalanced wheel can cause vibration, like if a wheel weight fell off, alignment issues... You should be able to order the GMPP trialing arms at a dealer as long as you have a GM #
mdelorie
The GMPP "Arm Kit" part number is 12498649. List price was $120.23 CAD when I bought mine. I ordered mine from the local dealer. I wasn't aware of the BMR Fabrication arms when I bought my GMPP ones, but those are also an option. The GMPP arms are tubular with rubber bushings. The BMR arms have greasable poly bushings. Preferable for high performance, but as others have said, somewhat overkill for a W. http://www.bmrfabrication.com/W-Body.htm The lateral arms and the trailing arms will fit all the way back to 1988 models. I just ordered the lateral arms the other day.
GutlessSupreme
The GMPP "Arm Kit" part number is 12498649. List price was $120.23 CAD when I bought mine. you got bent the fuck over man. I hope they sent you lube with that. 12498649 is the right number for the tubular trailing arms and can be had for $35.67 + shipping from gmpartsdirect.com. hell it shows GM list is only 50 bucks US. those prices are a little higher than they used to be too. These arms are for 1st and 2nd gen Ws.
19Cutlass94
The BMR ones are MUCH more, but then again worth the money IMO. And if your thinking about rims or wider than stock tire, go with the GMPP, as Ive only got maybe 3/8" with 215/60/
